This help provides help on how to use Chat, including color codes, command help and general information. Chat is a web based chat system with many features.

General Help

Talking is very easy. The display will show a running list of the conversation in your room. Each line will show a user name followed by that users's conversation underneath. To send a message of your own, type the message into the 'Send' box under the Send button and click either the 'Send' button,
or the 'GET NEW MESSAGES' button at the top of the screen next to the 'SETTINGS' button.

Note that your web browser won't automatically update the screen display for you. To see what conversation has been added to the channel since you last received a page, click the 'GET NEW MESSAGES' button.

To send a Private Message to a user, check the "whisper to" box next to the user name, then type a message into the Whisper box and press the Whisper button.

The Chatting Screen

Header - The chat header is the status bar which appears at the top of each page. The header holds some important information, such as what your current status level is, which room your are currently in and which rooms you may exit to. It will if available display the current topic of the room.

Body - The chat body is where you can read the conversation which is going on in the current room. Each line begins with the name of the speaker, followed by his or her statement underneath. In the body, system messages will appear describing logins, logouts, users that have been Zapped etc.

Footer - The footer contains the various controls which you use to interact with the chat room. The first text box is where you put public messages
to all the users in the current room. The second text box is for private messages to specific users on the system. Private messages will go to a user no matter which room they are currently in. The third text box is the command box, or optional data information. You could select a command which requires additional information such as a user's name or to echo a message. Selecting the 'Send Command' button for run the command for you.

The Profile Editor

The profile editor allows you to update your information and allows you to perform certain important functions.

Password - First and most importantly it allows you to change your password. Remember all passwords are case sensitive and you must fill in both password boxes for this to succeed. All passwords are also encrypted, so we will never be able to receive anyones password. The best we can do
is change it for you.

E-Mail Address - This option allows you to update your e-mail address.

Upload Images - This allowes you to upload an image to represent your character in chat directly from your computer. Every time you post a message in chat, your post will be shown with this image beside it. Please read the Image Rules for more details.

Picture - If you'd rather use a link from an image hosting site for your character image, such as Photobucket, you can post the link for it here and the image will be displayed beside every message you post in chat.

Entrance Quote - This option will allow you to change the message when you enter into a room.

Exit Quote - This option will allow you to change the message when you exit the chat.

Change Room Quote - This option will allow you to change the message, when you moving and changing between rooms.

Homepage - This option allows you to link to a homepage for your character.

History - In this box you can write a brief description of your character that will show up in your profile.

Block Whispers- Checking this box will prevent other members from whispering to you in chat

Block Shouts- Checking this box will prevent you from seeing shouts in chat

Use Automatic Pictures- If you'd like to use an image from your computer that's been uploaded to chat, you'll need to check this box to make sure it works.

Images

How do I include images ?

Your message can also contain inline images (.gifs/jpgs) in the message itself. To do that, just type in an HTML tag, to call the image.

For example:

Images can also be used in the form of banners for your change room quote. Please read the image rules on the Basic Rules page to see the notes on using banners.

HTML Tags

Chat limits which tags can and can not be used in chat.

Tags that can used are:

 <CENTER> <A HREF> <IMG SRC> <A> 

To make change the color of your text use the font HTML Tag.

Chat Commands

Last Messages
default value is 5, range can be added in the command box (between 1 and 20). This lets you read back to see what has been previously posted

Read the Wall displays the Wall of the current room

Read Announcements displays the Announcements, not influenced by the current room

Give Gold removes the amount from your gold and adds it to your target's gold. Syntax in the command box: target,amount
ex: Leo,100

Give Object removes the object from your inventory and adds it to your target's one. Syntax in the comand box: target,object
OBJECT NAMES ARE CURRENTLY STILL CASE SENSITIVE
ex: Leo,Broken Sword

Use Object removes the object from your inventory and displays to your target that you used it on him/her. If the object is set to do so, it will affect the target's health. Syntax in the command box: target,object
OBJECT NAMES ARE CURRENTLY STILL CASE SENSITIVE
ex: Leo,Poison

Eat Food removes the object from your inventory and affects your health as set. Only objects bought in the eatery can be eaten. Type the object name in the command box
OBJECT NAMES ARE CURRENTLY STILL CASE SENSITIVE

View Profile displays the profile page of the name typed in the command box. The name is not case sensitive, and aliases can be used.

Todays Chatters displays the accounts that have logged in today

Transactions Displays your gold exchanges since your last monthly report.

Knock displays a message saying you ask to be let in in the room selected in the room list. Can be used in all rooms, meaning it can also ask for authorization when two people are in a room.

Invite type the name of the one you want to invite to join you in the command box to send him/her a message saying he can join you in your current room. S/he will be able to even if he normally can't enter the room you are in.

Shout posts the content of the command box in all rooms.

Echo posts the content of the command box without indication of who wrote it

Set Health sets your health status at the value you type in the command box (in %).
ex: 63 will set your health to 63%

Heal/Wound User sets health status of the target at the value you type in the command box (in %). Syntax in the command box: target,value
ex: Leo,63 will set Leo's health to 63%

Invisible only other people having this power can see you in the users list, and you don't leave entrance or leaving quotes anymore

Visible cancels the effect of Invisible

Narrator posts the content of the command box under the name "Narrator"

Zap forces the name in the command box to log out.

Mute User forbids the name you typed in the command box to post, whisper, and suppresses him the following functions: Knock,Invite,Shout,Echo,Narrator,Set Narrator Picture,Write on the Wall,Change Topic,Write Announcement,Wipe Announcements, Update News,Weather Control,Wipe the Wall, Forbidden Entry Message,Clean Room

Unmute User cancels the effect of Mute User on the name you typed in the command box.

List Swear Words displays the words set in the database as swear words. All posts and whispers (but not powers) containing one of these words will be censored and a notification will automatically be sent through Realm Mail to the users in possession of this function.

Add Swear Word adds the word in the command box to the list of swear words.

Change Topic sets the line displayed under the current room's description as the content of the command box.

Write on the Wall adds the content of the command box on the wall of the current room

Dettach type the name of the target you had attached to cancel the effect of the Attach command

Attach type the name of your target in the command box to prevent him from leaving his current room and force him to follow you if you change room. You can't attach a character that is jailed.

Move sets the current room of the name you type in the command box as the room you chose in the room list.

Set Narrator Picture sets the picture that will be displayed next to the post with the Narrator function to the addy typed in the command box. Choose this function without typing anything in the command box to make the Narrator function be displayed without any picture.

Erase Swear Word removes the word in the command box from the list of swear words.

Ban User forces the name in the command box to log out and prevents him from logging back in or create a new account.

Imprison sends the name in the command box to the Dungeon and forbds him to go out of it. Also removes the following functions from him:Knock,Invite,Weather Control

Release cancels the effet of Imprison on the name you typed in the command box

Lock Room sets the room chosen in the Room List as locked. Locked rooms can't be entered by anyone unless using the Move power. Users currently in the room will be notified. They can still leave the room, but not come back inside it.

Unlock Room cancels the effect of Lock Room on the room chosen in the Room List. Users currently in the room will be notified.

Write Announcement Adds the content of the command box to the Announcements.

Wipe Announcements Erases all the Announcements

Update News
sets the News on the Enter page as the content of the command box.

Weather control tpe one of the following words to set the weather accordingly: Sunny, Cloudy, Raining, Windy (CASE SENSITIVE). The weather will influence the background of the outdoor rooms, and is displayed on the Enter page

Wipe the Wall erases all posts on the wall of the current room.

Forbidden Entry Message sets as the content of the command box the message to be displayed when an user tries to enter the current room without being allowed to do so.

Clean Room Erases all posts from the current Room.

Censor Adds the swear words commands, and users having the Censor power are notified by Realm Mail when a post is censored.

Disable Time Out User will Idle forever...

Block Whispers Disable the "Whisper to" checkbox

Block Shouts Doesn't display shouted posts anymore, nor Knocks, Zaps and Bans
