The wolf pack was strong and growing in number, the hunts growing more of a competition between the pack, more of placement. The new moon settled over the forest, the call was made it was time of the hunt. This night though would be different, this night he would prove in the hunt that he was worthy to be Alpha and challenge the dominant male. The night had gone as planned once more the competition of the hunt he came out on top, each year he grew more restless and stronger not only in physic but in popularity. He had to be sure, had to know that he had support had to know that he could beat the alpha who no longer joined in on the hunt.
Celebration was had and only then did he speak up, challenging the Alpha. The grunts and growls of exchange as the fight began, the rest of the pack circling but not interfering this was between them. The first hit, then the next, blows that were meant to be deadly. Meant to change the pack forever. But they were equals in brute strength and mental power there was no real end to this fight. No point to continue the struggle and they had both come to a stand still in battle. A stand still which would end up tearing the pack apart forever. Those that stood behind the challenger left with him, a small group to start their own pack… a new family.
